Chris Pratt Was Spoiled On Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom By Tom Holland
If you followed along with the news surrounding Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, you might learned that Tom Holland, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man, is terrible at keeping secrets. Not only this can be problematic in everyday life, it's also an issue when you're working on blockbusters that require you not to reveal any specific plot information to the public. But evidently Holland's blabbermouth doesn't just extend to projects he's participating in. With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom finally arriving next week, Chris Pratt, who's reprising Owen Grady, revealed that Holland was the one who spoiled him on the dinosaur-filled sequel before Pratt had a chance to look at the script.
At the time this occurred, Chris Pratt was working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Tom Holland was working on Spider-Man: Homecoming, meaning that they were both on the same lot at the same time. But years before he boarded the MCU to play Peter Parker, Holland had worked with director J.A. Bayona on The Impossible. Bayona was hired to helm Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and evidently he and Holland remained in touch, because at some point Bayona told the actor what goes down in Fallen World. As Pratt recalled to EW:
He said, 'Hey, mate, I just talked to J.A., mate. He told me the whole plot of this story.' I was like, 'What?' He's like, 'Yeah, there's, like, a volcano.' I was like, 'You're messing with me.' He's like, 'No, mate, he told me the whole thing!' So he told me the whole story, so I heard it right from Tom Holland first. And then when I read the script, I was like, 'Yeah, he wasn't messing with me, this is all real.'
Given that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was always intended to be a direct follow-up to 2015's Jurassic World rather than some kind of anthology installment, it was only a matter of time before Chris Pratt was clued in on the story. Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing are, after all, the main protagonists. Still, it's funny that Tom Holland, someone who's not associated with the Jurassic Park franchise in any way, managed to not only learn the main beats of Fallen Kingdom, but also spill the beans to Pratt before he'd even heard anything. Pratt and Holland eventually worked together on Avengers: Infinity War and will share the screen again next year in Avengers 4. Whether they work together again on a non-Marvel movie or just run into each other outside of work, if Holland happens upon information for something else Pratt will be working on (as slim as that would be), he might want to keep his mouth shut on the matter.
