Another Original Halloween Actor Begged To Be In The New Sequel
The horror genre is certainly in a renaissance right now. Rather than stale or overly gory sequels, there have been new and exciting properties hitting theaters, and making a ton of money in the process. Most of the recent classics have come from Blumhouse productions, and now the horror house is turning its head on the OG slasher: Halloween. A new Halloween flick will arrive for this coming season, retconning massive changes to the canon and bringing back stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle and Laurie Strode and Michael Myers respectively. But it turns out that another original cast member wanted in: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards. Richards played Lindsey Wallace in Halloween, one of the kids being babysat when Michael attacks. And while she's mostly known as a reality TV personality by modern audiences, Richards recently revealed how she campaigned to have a role in Blumhouse's Halloween-- no matter how small. As she tells it,
I really wanted to be so badly. And I've never done this in my life. I literally reached out and said, 'Can I be in it in any capacity? I'll be an extra. I'll do anything.' But they didn't think that it was going to fit in with the story or something.
Kyle Richards was a child actress when she had a part in John Carpenter's iconic original Halloween. While her character Lindsey Wallace might have spent most of the movie watching TV and ignoring her babysitter, it's a role that countless horror fans re-watch every single year. And with Blumhouse's Halloween going back to basics, its logical that Lindsey could have popped back up in the upcoming sequel.
Kyle Richards' comments to US Magazine definitely make sense, given the upcoming Halloween sequel's timeline. All of the sequels will be ignored, showing a Laurie Strode who has waited 40 years to come back into conflict with her attacker. Since Lindsey survived her run-in on that fateful night, it would stand to reason for Richards or her character to have appeared. This would give the reality star a chance to reconnect with those fans, and visit Haddonfield one last time.
Alas, it doesn't look like Blumhouse wanted Kyle Richards in the new Halloween cast, likely because Lindsay and Tommy are both not in the upcoming sequel. Paul Rudd famously paid the latter character in the 1995 sequel Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, although that's no longer considered canon. Regardless, Laurie Strode is going to be much too focused on her family than to help protect the same kids she rescued on that fateful night 40 years ago.
Kyle Richards is now best known as a TV personality, starring in Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Richards has thus far appeared in a whopping 172 episodes of the popular series. So while we won't see her acting on the big screen, you can still tune in and see what the real Lindsey is up to these days.
