How Jessica Chastain Responded To The IT 2 James McAvoy Casting News

The terror isn't over in Derry, Maine. Director Andy Muschietti is gearing up to bring The Losers Club back for IT: Chapter 2, and a major element of that involves casting the adult versions of these beloved characters. We recently learned that James McAvoy and Bill Hader are both in talks to sign on to the sequel as Bill and Richie, respectively, and now Jessica Chastain has taken to social media to welcome McAvoy to the cast. Check out her perfect tweet, below.

Talk about symmetry. Jessica Chastain took to Twitter to share that photo, and it's easy to see how well the casting of her and James McAvoy could work for IT: Chapter 2. Not only do they both look like Jaeden Lieberher and Sophia Lillis (both of whom are expected to return in flashback sequences), but they already have a rapport with one another that could help them convey the history shared between the characters.

As we can see from this tweet, IT: Chapter 2 won't be the first time that Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy have worked together. The duo previously shared the screen in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, and they will also appear together in X-Men: Dark Phoenix -- though we still don't know who Jessica Chastain is actually playing in the X-Men universe. Having said all of that, when we consider just how close Bill and Beverly are in the IT universe, it's easy to assume that IT: Chapter 2 could potentially be their best collaboration yet.

While Jessica Chastain's tweet only mentions James McAvoy, it is also worth taking a moment to remember the other actor currently in the running to join the adult Losers Club: Barry star Bill Hader. The comedian is in talks to take on the role of Richie Tozier (played in IT by Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard), and it's arguably hard to imagine any actor having a better fit for the role. In the book, Tozier's adult arc involves him going on to achieve fame and fortune as a fast-talking radio host known for his use of funny voices and characters -- something Bill Hader already has down.

Now with Bill Hader, James McAvoy, and Jessica Chastain all heading to Derry for IT: Chapter 2, it's a matter of watching to see who will join the cast next. With three well-known actors involved, there's a strong case for us to make that Andy Muschietti could cast three more established names to round out the cast. With that in mind, make sure to keep an eye out for casting announcements related to Eddie, Stan, Ben, and Mike, because they're next on deck.
