Tom Holland Leaks The Spider-Man 2 Title, Because Of Course He Does
In his time during the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has consistently proven one thing: he's terrible at keeping secrets. Usually this applies only to the Marvel movies themselves, although we recently learned that he gave Chris Pratt the lowdown on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom before the star of the dinosaur-filled blockbuster even had a chance to read the script. But at least Holland can have fun at his own expense with his habit of spoiling things, as he proved earlier tonight when he leaked the official title of what we've been calling Spider-Man: Homecoming 2. Now it's official: the Web-Slinger's next standalone MCU adventure will be called Spider-Man: Far From Home. Taking to Instagram, Tom Holland revealed to his fans that despite attending the Ace Comic-Con in Seattle, he didn't have anything special to announce regarding Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, claiming that he doesn't know much about it and is confused given his character's fate at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. But then he revealed that he's just gotten the script for the sequel, thus "accidentally" revealing the official title on his iPad screen, Spider-Man: Far From Home. We had no idea that a Spider-Man 2 title reveal was coming, so for Holland to drop this information in a way befitting his reputation as a spoiler is both awesome and appropriate.
Despite Spider-Man being one of the many heroes who was erased from existence by Thanos during Avengers: Infinity War, we've known since December 2016 that Tom Holland's iteration of the Wall-Crawler would be back for another standalone adventure in 2019. So however he's brought back in Avengers 4, we can look forward to him being back on the silver screen a few months later. Although no official plot details from Spider-Man: Far From Home have been revealed yet, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed back in April that the sequel will shoot in London, giving us our first indication that the new Spider-Man movie would have more of a global feel to it. Now that the title has been revealed to Spider-Man: Far From Home, it would sounds like Peter Parker will once again be traveling, only instead of going back to Washington D.C., presumably he'll be heading across the pond.
It has also been rumored that Spider-Man: Far From Home will introduce classic Peter Parker love interest Gwen Stacy, although this version of her is supposedly a foreign exchange student who comes to Peter's school. This has yet to be verified, but taking this title into account, I could certainly imagine a story where Peter meets the MCU's version of Gwen while traveling abroad. As for who Spider-Man will battle this time around, Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play longtime Spidey rogue Quentin Beck, a.k.a. Mysterio, and Michael Keaton is reportedly reprising Adrian Toomes, a.k.a. The Vulture. We also know that Peter will get a new Spider-Man costume in Spider-Man: Far From Home that will have "very big changes" that are fitting for a hero who's close to reaching adulthood.
