There's A Whole Plan For Releasing The Aquaman Trailer, According To Black Manta Actor

The DCEU will expand to the depths of the ocean later this year when Aquaman finally premieres, and many fans are dying to see what James Wan and Jason Momoa will do with Arthur Curry following his introduction in Justice League. We've been looking for any and all possible clues as to when and where the trailer for the film may finally drop, as the superhero movie itself is a little over six months away from release and no official footage has been released. That said, Black Manta actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II recently took to social media to calm fans down and confirm that there's a definite plan in place for Aquaman's trailer debut, but he's not going to reveal it. He said:

If I did that it would RUIN EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING! It'd kill the entire publicity plan. You'll be excited for maybe 30 minutes, then you'd have nothing to look forward to. You'd just be waiting again. So... No. I won't tell you.

The lack of any official footage has left some Aquaman fans on edge, but this confirms that it's all part of a much larger plan. Per Yahya Abdul-Mateen II own comments, while a clearer tease of the film's trailer could generate some short-term excitement online, holding the trailer's release date and playing a bigger picture publicity game is more of a priority for Aquaman insiders at this stage of the film's post-production process.

It's also worth mentioning that some people have already seen footage from Aquaman, so it's not necessarily a matter of the film not being ready for audience eyes. In fact, CinemaBlend's own Sean O'Connell got a chance to see footage from the film last month at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. From what Sean saw in the portion of the upcoming DCEU blockbuster, it looks like we can expect nothing less than an "epic" adventure through the seven seas that provides us with a much better look at the undersea world of Arthur Curry than anything seen we saw in Justice League or that brief Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice cameo.

Aquaman will tell the story of Arthur Curry's journey to the throne of Atlantis. Focusing on his origins and royal family drama, the film will introduce classic Aquaman supporting characters like Orm a.k.a Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson), Vulko (Willem Dafoe), Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), and the aforementioned Black Manta, among others. Additionally, the film will also bring back Mera (Amber Heard), who made her first appearance in the DC Extended Universe during the battle against Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) in Justice League.

Though we still know very little about the current publicity plan for James Wan's Aquaman, we will continue to bring you more updates related to the film as they are made available to us. Make sure to catch it when it splashes its way into theaters later this year on December 21!
